I’m a Giant: The current hoard.
As I’ve announced here and talked about here, I’m partaking in the I’m a Giant challenge.

Let me first start by saying, this dollhouse sh*t is hard and expensive. On a happier note, I must admit it’s addictive. And, it’s fun to day dream about my “forever” home and what it might look like. This dollhousing/planning rooms from scratch thing has me pretty convinced my next home will be a $60K fixer-upper, all so I can customize everything to my taste. Of those of you that have actually went the fixer-upper route, you may consider me quite ignorant. Touche. (Note to self: must figure out how to add accent mark.)
Anyhoo, because it’s Friday, it’s time for a dollhouse post! Over the past two weeks, I’ve hoarded a decent amount of dollhouse furniture.

And the best part, I paid maybe $14 for the whole pile. That’s because 85% of the furniture was given to me by a friend. I feel very lucky. And somewhat prepared for this challenge. Sort of. There is a lot to do still.

My dollhouse person has the same style as me… vintage-y, modern, wood tones and lots of white walls. Plus, an axe, for when her miniature Boston Terrier needs a bop on the head.
I made that stick mirror myself. It’s supposed to look rustic and funky. I’d describe it as pretty crappy crafty. (Funny story – back home there was this craft/decor shop on McKay Rd. called Pretty Crafty. Never been, but every time we’d pass we’d say “It’s pretty crappy!” We thought that was hilarious. Jerks.)

Love these white ceramic head things. They’re way creepy. I have no idea why they were made miniature, but they remind me of these real size ceramic vases (also seen on Nicole’s at Making It Lovely dining room table).

The rope mirror I made, using this Restoration Hardware mirror as my inspiration. It’s going to be the bathroom mirror. This version was free, so very affordable. It’s made of hemp string and a discarded MAC compact mirror.

These rugs are my absolute favorite. I WANT these rugs in my real house. By chance I saw them on the bottom shelf of a vendor booth at the Lawrenceburg Antique thing I went to a couple of weekends ago. Not sure what they are actually supposed to be, but they are perfect dollhouse rugs. I got three for $7. Suge has probably eaten the third one, which is why it’s not pictured.

And finally, I’ve moved the whole dollhouse operation down to the basement, because I cannot stand craft clutter upstairs. Clutter on surfaces in my home (read: in my home, not yours) gives me anxiety and causes me to cry like a lunatic. Seriously. Ask Aaron. You’ll notice not much has happened to the dollhouse itself. I’ve been too busy collecting the hoard.
More dollhouse updates next Friday. If you missed last week’s dollhouse update, it’s here.
Also, I want to know. Who else is doing this challenge? Dollhousing requires company! Thank god Kate is with me.
